cavern entrance

On the reef of Tikehau is a vertical wall. At a depth of 60 meters (200 feet) is an access to an underwater cave. This access is split in two by an archway. The cave expands, widening to its lowest point located 107 meters (350 feet) deep. The dark atmosphere of the cave is peppered with the almost permanent presence of silvertip sharks "carcharhinus albimarginatus". These sharks, whose fins ends is of a white color, are much more impressive and massive that the gray reef shark "carcharhinus amblyrhynchos" and their back is bluish gray. These sharks can reach a size of 3 meters (10 feet) and a mass of 160 kg (350 pounds).

This shot was taken at the entrance of the cavern, on the right side of the wall, at a depth of 60 meters (200 feet). An albimarginatus was just strolling around...
