bubble coral shrimp

This is a very tiny (10mm - 0.4 in) bubble coral shrimp "vir philippinensis" on bubble coral "plerogyra sinuosa".

This coral forms a colony who, during the day, is coated with vesicles of varying colors: cream, blue-gray, green or brown. These vesicles look like grapes. The shape of these vesicles may vary (round but also pointed and twisted, depending on the level of gas filling). These vesicles shrink slowly when the colony is disturbed.

The tiny bubble coral shrimp is frequently encountered among the vesicles of bubble coral.
